951 days old. Second member of quadruplet-sonde from Vaisala HQ (first: V2430039). This was eco-model with pressure sensor (SGEP) and it's outer cardboard-like casing had only small fragments left, while the inner shell was still pretty much complete (but softened, of course).

I went for 951 days old quadruplet-sonde from Vaisala HQ. Earlier recovery by AarnoJunkkari (see V2411615) was my inspiration. First I found chute, balloon neck and dereeler on the ground. Chute was huge (1,8m dia) and dereeler was all-metal(!) contraption, with peculiar seesaw mechanism (to slow down dereeling?). Then I spotted some line high in the treetops and finally found two sondes on the ground (the other: V2411563). Third sonde (eco model, either V2420724 or V2420725) was hanging high in the tree well out of reach of my 6m pole. Have to come back later to check if it's "ripe" and also trying to see the fourth one (it was getting dark).

Here is one for the books! This one landed November 30, 2025. By its last reported altitude and speed, I figured it was about 300 feet further southeast. I had obtained permission from land owner and the wind farm to use the turbine lane way to drive back closer to the landing site. This one was 1.2 miles from the road, the lane way got me within 1100 feet. I walked 1400 feet to the edge of the woodlot where I thought it would be, then backtracked 300 feet to last known position. Nothing. Walked 300 feet back to woodlot and searched again. Nothing. I decided this one was not to be. I headed back to the truck which I had parked at the turbine. 500 feet from the woodlot, there was a small grassy patch with a large catch basin for field drainage.I glanced over and noticed something white, It was the sonde! On a 400 acre farm, I had managed to find the sonde which had been chewed by some animal and carried to this grassy patch, some 500 feet from its projected landing spot!!
